The Institute for Applied Biotechnology Murska Sobota is an institute for non-profit activities in the field of research, development and education related to food and pharmacological biotechnology. The institute was established in 2008 within the framework of the Pomurje Technological Park.

The main goal of the institute is to became a regional research and development centre, which will conduct non-profit activities whose goal is to enhance excellence and achieve its highest level in the field of research of new products, services and technologies with higher added value added in the field of applicative biotechnology.
The institute's mission is directed to achieving competitive advantage in the global marketplace.
Development strategy is directed to establishment of a system which will enable expansion of technical, technological, economic, organizational and other abilities and knowledge needed for achieving the global aim - the improvement of innovative capacities and the identification of new opportunities in the field of biotechnology.
